Harrison and Mackenzie met back in October 2020 at Lifepoint church in Tallahassee. At first, Mackenzie was not his biggest fan. His big white smile and larger than life personality took up too much of the room for her liking, and he liked her. Meaning he would often try to be her friend and was met with rejection - he was lower than the friend zone; he was in the "no fly zone." Over time, and being in community together, he started to grow on her. During a life-group she apologized to him for giving him the cold shoulder for many months. From there on her heart was more open to him.
They became friends that quickly turned into best friends. They spent countless hours on the phone talking about anything and everything under the sun. They became each others safe space. A conversation was had on Mackenzie’s drive home from NC. Harrison boldly asked her “What would you like out of a husband one day?” Put on the spot and unsure of how to answer, she flipped the question back to him. “Well what would you like out of wife one day?” Without hesitation Harrison answered “Someone like you.” The feeling was mutual.
They both prayed and sought the Lord about their friendship becoming something more serious and the question more or less answered itself. He not only escaped the "no fly zone" but also the friend-zone. They got engaged in February 2022, and spent their longer engagement period continuing getting to know each other on a deep level and learning how to love one another like Christ loves the church. They look forward to their lives together and continuing to pursue Jesus and His call on their lives as one.
